Pantone's Color of the Year 2014: Radiant Orchid
Late in 2013, Pantone (the color expert of the world) announced that the new Color of the Year for 2014 would be Radiant Orchid. I was excited when I found out because it's a shade of purple, and purple is my absolute favorite color. Now don't be fooled, this is not your ordinary purple. It's also very different from the deeper purple that has been popular in so many New Jersey weddings in the past few years. In my opinion, this color is quite versatile and will work really well with rich jewel tones, like a deep royal blue, and warm metallics like the gold details in a few of the photos below. The great thing about this color is that it is soft enough to not overwhelm those with milder color tastes, in contrast with 2013's color Emerald, which in my opinion was better suited as an accent.
From Pantone: "Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative, and embracing purple - one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health."
